Sara Silvestri and Elif Cetin have hosted several events to present highlights of the recently completed research project on UK migration and refugee policies and the role of the Catholic charities and other faith based NGOs, founded by the Plater Trust.
- On 13th November 2017, House of Commons: panel discussion on 'Refugees and Parliament', organised by the Afghanistan and Central Asia Association with the support of Baroness Lister of Burtersett (All Party Parliamentary Group on Refugees) as part of the events of Parliament Week. Other speakers included: Vicky Foxcroft (MP for Lewisham Deptford), and Melanie Teff (Senior Humanitarian Advocacy & Policy Adviser at UNICEF UK).
- On 15th November, City, University of London: Roundtable discussion organised jointly with the Centre for International Policy Studies and the Social Movements and Civil Society Research Group of City University of London. The panel addressed the role of and the challenges experienced by faith-based NGOs and Christian churches in responding to the recent European migration and asylum emergencies. Special focus was devoted to the UK context and the contribution of CST in the migration field, sponsored by the Plater Trust. Other speakers included: Dr Christopher McDowell and Dr Tom Davies (City, University of London)
