Von Hügel Institute

for Critical Catholic Inquiry

The Contributions of Catholicism in the Third Millennium to a Secular University

H. E. Cardinal Luis Tagle, Archbishop of Manila

The Von Hügel Institute for Critical Catholic Inquiry exists to promote mutual enrichment between the best of the secular academy and the Catholic traditions of theology, philosophy and ethics through events, research, and contributions to the public square. Our annual lecture showcases the best of this interdisciplinary thinking anchored in a universal or ‘catholic’ way of looking at the world. World-leading academics, practitioners, and ecclesiastical figures are invited to give their own perspective on our unique mission.

Cardinal Luis Tagle is the 32nd Archbishop of Manila. He has been Archbishop since December 2011, and a cardinal since November 2012. He also serves as President of Caritas Internationalis and of the Catholic Biblical Federation. He completed his licentiate and doctorate at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC.

10th February 2017, 4pm, St Edmund's College.
