Simon Ravenscroft writes at ABC Religion & Ethics on truth and post-truth in the satire of Slawomir Mrozek

Dr Simon Ravenscroft has written an essay at ABC Religion & Ethics, which uses the Polish satirist Slawomir Mrozek's short story 'The Elephant' as a basis for discussing the problem of rediscovering truth and trust in a 'post-truth' age.

Entitled 'Of Elephants and Cynics: Rehabilitating Truth in a Post-Truth Age', the piece considers the rise of popular cynicism as a reaction to the longer-term cynicism of managerial elites, and in terms of a more general impoverishment of our conception of truth as such, with reference not only to Mrozek, but also Hans-Georg Gadamer, Jean-François Lyotard, and recent satirical TV shows.
