How does the creation of credit enable something to come from nothing? This talk will explore the metaphysics of credit by considering it as distinct from market exchange and in relation to grounds for faith.

Philip Goodchild is Professor of Religion and Philosophy at the University of Nottingham, where he has worked in both the Department of Theology and Religious Studies and the Department of Philosophy. Among his book publications are: Capitalism and Religion: The Price of Piety (Routledge, 2002), Theology of Money (SCM, 2007), and On Philosophy as a Spiritual Exercise (Palgrave, 2013). He is currently writing a book on the philosophy of theological economics entitled Credit and Faith.
