An interdisciplinay one-day workshop jointly organised with the Terrence J. Murphy Institute for Catholic Thought, Law, and Public Policy (University of St. Thomas, Minnesota, USA) and the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and Human Rights (Rome, Italy)
This workshop aims to discuss legal, ethical and moral implication of end of life decisions, euthanasia and assisted dying for people with mental illness and disabilities. Speakers will present perspectives from different academic
fields (legal, medical, ethical, anthropological, philosophical, and theological) and discuss some of the key concepts involved in this debate, such as quality of life, dying with dignity, autonomy/dependency, mental capacity, public policy and social attitudes toward disability.
Programme, list of speakers, and further details can be found HERE. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of a peer-reviewed journal.
This event follows a conversational model fostering a close dialogue between the invited speakers and some auditors. Attendance is by invitation.
