The VHI is delighted to welcome doctoral student Jeroen Jans from Radboud University (the Netherlands) who will be spending a few months in Cambridge to work on his PhD in empirical religious studies.
Jeroen obtained his master degree in Theology and Religious Studies at KU Leuven (Belgium) in 2012 with a thesis on the Resurrection of Lazarus. Two years later, in 2014, he finished both his advanced master in Theology and Religious Studies with a thesis on the political theology of Rowan Williams, and a master in Society, Law and Religion with a thesis on the apostolic constitution Anglicanorum coetibus.
Jeroen’s research interests are empirical studies, state theory, political philosophy, and religion-state relations. His PhD thesis at Radboud University explores the different ways in which young, committed Christians, Muslims, and Humanists in the Netherlands and Flanders perceive the ideal relationship between religion and state governance.
