Dr Sara Silvestri (VHI Research Associate and Bye Fellow of St Edmund's College; Affiliated Lecturer POLIS) has participated in two closed doors invited workshops: on Catholic social teaching, organised by the University of Notre Dame, London Gateway (March), and by the Jesuit Refugee Service and Heythrop College, London, on Refugee Narratives (April). In January, she gave a paper on the Catholic Church contribution to the Global Governance of Migration at a conference on the Ethics of Migration at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.

Dr Silvestri also spoke at the Council on Christian Approaches to Defence and Disarmament on 'Understanding the Rationale and Limits of Diplomatic Engagement with Faith Groups' (London, 14 December 2017), and was part of a panel on radicalisation organised by the London International Development Centre and the Guardian (December), a panel on the Clash of Civilisations at the Cambridge Festival of Ideas (October), and a guest speaker on 'Religion and War' at the Southbank Festival (November).
