Simon Ravenscroft co-authores commentaries for The Visual Commentary on Scripture project (VCS)

VHI Research Associate Simon Ravenscroft has co-authored with Ruth Jackson commentaries for a virtual exhibition as part of The Visual Commentary on Scripture project (VCS), an initiative being developed by King’s College London.

The exhibition brings works by Banksy, Damien Hirst, and Hans Holbein the Younger into conversation with James 4:13-5:6, primarily exploring themes around mortality and the transience of material wealth. It can be accessed here.

The Visual Commentary on Scripture (VCS) is a freely accessible online publication that provides theological commentary on the Bible in dialogue with works of art. It helps its users to (re)discover the Bible in new ways through the interaction of artworks, scriptural texts, and commissioned commentaries. More information can be found here.
