The VHI is delighted to welcome Professor Gill Goulding CJ as new Senior Research Associate beginning 1st October 2018.
Sr Gill Goulding is Professor of Systematic Theology at Regis College, the Jesuit school of Theology at the University of Toronto, which she joined in 2001. Her research focuses in the area of Twentieth century Trinitarian theology, Ecclesiology and Hermeneutics, with a special emphasis on the works of Hans Urs von Balthasar.
Sr Gill has held Visiting Fellowships at the University of Cambridge, UK, the Western Jesuit School of Theology, Cambridge MA, Georgetown University, Washington DC, and Boston College, and she contributed internationally as a member of several ecclesial committees and commissions. In 2016 she was awarded a Henry Luce III Fellowship for her project on the importance of mercy in the mission of the church. She is especially cognizant today of the need to encourage young women in the academic setting: 'I am concerned to encourage young women who have a passion for the study of theology, particularly systematics. As Pope Francis has indicated we need the feminine voice also, in the discussions of theology, for the ongoing life of the Church'.
Sr Gill will officially be welcomed at St Edmund's College during an Inaugural and Matriculation Ceremony in October.
