Condolences message on the death of Prof Frank Delmartino

The Von Hugel Institute is saddened to learn of the death of Professor Frank Delmartino on Sunday, 21 June 2015. Prof. Delmartino co-founded the Institute for European Policy at KU Leuven and he was a noted specialist on European integration. Last year he delivered one of the VHI lectures on 'Faith, Subsidiarity and Human Rights'. The last project on which he was working, in collaboration with Professor John Loughlin, Director of the VHI, was the establishment of the Cambridge-Leuven Initiative which planned to conduct a dialogue with high-ranking EU officials on ethical governance and democracy in the European Union. Professor Loughlin has stated that the project will continue in memory of Professor Delmartino's contribution to ethical reflection on European politics.

He was a deeply spiritual and socially committed person and a well respected teacher and mentor to many generations of students.
