VHI Reading Group for Lent 2024

During Lent Term 2024, VHI Research Associate Dr Flavio Comim will lead an online reading group to discuss Daniel Chandler’s Free and Equal: What Would a Fair Society Look Like?

A philosopher and economist, Chandler makes a call for egalitarian liberalism to address the economic and social fragmentation of our world, proposing a programme of reforms inspired by the ideas of John Rawls.

The VHI reading group—a group that has met annually for the last 24 years—will meet during Lent Term on Thursdays from 2-4pm, starting on 25 January. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the online meetings have proven to be a fruitful and convenient arrangement for gathering participants near and far, and the group looks forward to welcoming new members!

How it works? Participants present different chapters followed by discussions. During the first session, Dr Comim will present the Introduction and Chapter I. Other chapters will be allocated in this initial session. All are welcome.

Date: Every Thursday from 2-4pm, beginning 25 January via Zoom.

To Register: For registration and further information, please contact Dr Flavio Comim at fvc1001@cam.ac.uk.
