VHI Research Associate Dr William Simpson has received an "Expanded Reason Award" for his doctoral thesis, "What's the matter? Toward a neo-Aristotelian ontology of nature".
The Expanded Reason Award is an international research prize of 25,000 Euros awarded by the University Francisco de Vitoria in collaboration with the Joseph Ratzinger Vatican Foundation. The award ceremony was to have taken place this September in the Vatican, but will likely take place in December under the circumstances.

In May 2020 William Simpson has also been awarded an Honorary Research Fellowship in the Philosophy of Nature by the University of St Andrews.
