Professor John Loughlin has published a book chapter of 'The theological and secular dimension of the modern state: historical and contemporary perspectives' in

Democracy, Law and Religious Pluralism in Europe. Secularism and Post-Secularism, edi. F. Requejo, C. Ungurea, Routledge 2015

This book focuses on a central question: are the classical secularist arrangements well equipped to tackle the challenge of fast-growing religious pluralism? Or should we move to new post-secular arrangements when dealing with pluralism in Europe?
