Von Hügel Institute

for Critical Catholic Inquiry

A Panel Discussion on the Anniversary of Nostra Aetatae jointly organised with the Woolf Institute

The publication of Nostra Aetate during the course of the Second Vatican Council revolutionised the relations of the Catholic Church with other religions and especially Judaism, strongly urging interfaith reflection, collaboration, and action. On its fiftieth anniversary the Vatican’s Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews has published a new document broadening and deepening the theological reflections of the earlier document on the relations between Judaism and Christianity. The Von Hügel and Woolf Institutes of St Edmund’s College have convened a panel of distinguished Catholic and Jewish scholars to discuss and assess this significant new document and its contributions to Catholic-Jewish relations today.

Speakers include:

Prof Gavin D'Costa· Bristol University
Rabbi Prof Jonathan Magonet· World Union for Progressive Judaism
