Father Frank McHugh RIP

The Von Hügel Institute is saddened to learn of the death of Father Frank McHugh, who was the institute's Director from 1990 to 2000.

Below is a message by the Master of St Edmund's College, Catherine Arnold, to the College Fellows:

"I am sorry to inform you that Father Frank McHugh, Emeritus Fellow, Acting Dean 1979-80, Director of the Von Hügel Institute 1990-2000, died on Friday 6 December in Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland, where he had lived since his retirement in 2004. He was buried on Monday 9 December.

Frank was born in Glasgow and ordained a priest in 1956. Alongside his academic career, he was also well-known for his outstanding singing voice. A regular performer in music halls, he recorded a number of records and CDS. His latest, Vintage Irish Lough Swilly Shore, was issued only last year.

As a mark of respect, the College flag will be flown at half mast on Friday and over the weekend.  I have sent condolences to his family on behalf of the College."
